Our clinic is proud to offer the most cutting-edge, effective, and safe hormone replacement therapies. Our track record of restoring good health, increasing energy, easing pain, and boosting the longevity of our patients is something we take great pride in.
Human Growth Hormone (HGH) Replacement Therapy can work miracles in an aging body, as thousands of our thankful and appreciative patients have experienced.
But we don't stop with hormone replacement. To ensure that you derive the maximum benefits from our HGH replacement treatment regimen, we offer detailed nutritional advice about the science of nutrition.
As we learn more about aging and how the body works, we unveil new information that helps us understand how to make active decisions to live a longer and healthier life.
Recent research published in the periodical Cell provides further evidence regarding how what we put in our bodies impacts the aging process.
While numerous studies have explored the topic of diet and longevity, the studies are somewhat disconnected. There is a need for in-depth research to explore the combinations and quantities of different nutrients which provide the most effective means to mitigate mortality risk and extend lifespan.
Titled Nutrition, longevity, and disease: From molecular mechanisms to interventions, this study takes steps to answer some of these questions.
Exploring the relationship Among Dietary Protein, HGH, IGF-1, and Aging
Diets rich in amino acids and protein have been found to substantially impact the production of Human Growth Hormone and Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). In rodent studies, this combination led to a reduction in the lifespan of animals. Lower protein diets led to lower IGF-1 activity.
Researchers also found that Growth Hormone and Growth Hormone Receptor mutations that slowed down growth gene activity increased rodent lifespans by as much as 40%.
Reduced expression of these genes lowered IGF-1 Levels and led to lower insulin levels. Deleting a copy of an Insulin Receptor gene increased lifespans by 16%-30%. Deleting a single IGF-1 Receptor gene boosted lifespan by 16%-33%.
A study involving humans found that people in Ecuador with Growth Hormone Receptor Deficiency have much lower cancer rates and a lower incidence of diabetes than the general population. The Anti-Diabetic benefits of this genetic deficiency are believed to be caused by heightened insulin sensitivity.
Sugar, Hormones, and Aging
Research has shown that sugars have a substantial impact on age-related signaling. A gene known as AC type 5 plays a substantial role in lipid and sugar metabolism. In rodent experimentation, disrupting the expression of this gene reduced the rate of cardiopathy and increased lifespan by 30% among the mice.
Another gene involved in these processes (PKA RIIb subunit) strengthened the heart, lowered insulin and resting glucose, and increased lifespan when disrupted.
Restricting Calories to Live Longer in Humans
There is strong evidence that Caloric Restriction can improve health and genetic expression in ways that help humans live longer. Caloric Restriction has been shown to diminish excess fat deposits and improve body fat composition in participating individuals.
Engaging in Caloric Restriction provides numerous benefits associated with longevity, including a healthier liver, a stronger heart, and enhanced Insulin Sensitivity. Caloric Restriction helps ward off cardiovascular disease and has been shown to slow down aging at the genetic level measured by the epigenetic clock. These benefits were primarily associated with the act of fasting related to Caloric Restriction.
Fasting to Live Longer
Researchers also examined the results of various studies associated with different types of fasting. They found that a 14-16 hour fast 5+ days per week over 1-3 months provided many excellent benefits, including a slimmer waist and less excess fat.
This length of fast led to evidence of improved cardiovascular health. An 18-hour fast was found to boost insulin sensitivity. Research shows better outcomes for fasts that allow for eating breakfast. Alternate day fasting was also shown to lower core fat and improve body composition.
Living Longer Through Diet
After investigating the evidence, the research team concluded that a diet modest in protein with lots of legumes reduced the activity of genes associated with IGF-1, Insulin, and Growth Hormone Receptor signaling. A low protein diet provided some benefits in this area for younger individuals.
Still, these benefits diminished utterly by age 65 while also contributing to the loss of muscle mass.
Our dietary needs evolve as we get older. As we learn more about proper nutrition throughout the lifespan, we can arm patients with the info they need to live healthier, longer lives.
The takeaway here is simple: you really are what you eat! You wouldn't think of putting poor-quality gasoline in your car. So why put poor-quality slop into your body? We will provide you with the exact plan to give your body the nutrition it deserves!
